Maya joined us on July 1, 2022 as the Director of Youth Engagement. Maya believes that joy and community are central to a meaningful Jewish life. Originally from Queens, New York, she is a graduating senior at Vanderbilt University where she majors in secondary education and mathematics. Maya has worked with youth in a variety of settings—at URJ Eisner Camp, she has been a drama instructor, counselor, and unit head in the last five summers with a series of fellowships in Jewish leadership and theatre. At Vanderbilt, she has done engagement work in both Jewish and non-Jewish settings, where she has served as co-VP of Jewish Life, VP of First Year Engagement, and song leader at Vanderbilt Hillel; co-founder, Vice President, and President of Vanderbilt’s Association for Women in Mathematics chapter; and been a cast member and assistant director for Vanderbilt Off-Broadway. She has also been a student teacher for 8th through 11th graders in mathematics, where she strived to make play and collaboration the core of mathematics learning.

Maya loves musical theatre and improv games, Jewish camp, learning number theory, watching cooking shows with her family, and learning to play Ingrid Michaelson songs on guitar.
