CSR Teens

Who We Are

CSR Teens is a supportive, engaging, and fun environment that empowers emerging young adults to choose how they want to explore and express their Judaism alongside a caring community of teens and educators.

We have created a variety of options for 8th through 12th graders to connect with other Jewish teens, learn, and lead in our dynamic teen community. Through our CSR Teens program, you can:

Learn with our educators in unique electives at our Limud program
Make an impact on young learners as assistants (Madrichim) in our Center for Jewish Learning classrooms
Engage in social and social action programs
Travel on our grade trips to D.C., Boston/Philadelphia, and Georgia
Cultivate friendships, plan programs, and gain valuable leadership skills through our CoSY Teen Leadership Board

Limud:
Monday Night Learning | 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Learn with your friends from our CSR clergy and teen educators in our interactive grade-level classes, electives, and special programs tailored to your interests.

Special programs have included:

“Menorah Magic” Chanukah Carnival

Classes, electives and special programs rotate throughout the year on Monday nights from 6:00-8:00 PM, dinner included.

Tiyyulim:
Trips & Immersive Experiences

Each year, explore new cities and have unforgettable experiences with your peers on CSR Teens immersive experiences! Our trips include sightseeing, free time, community service, and Jewish learning. Our trips and immersive experiences are:

8th/9th grade trip to Boston or Philadelphia
10th-12th grade trip to the L’taken Social Justice Seminar through the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC) in Washington, D.C.
11th/12th grade Civil Rights Journey to the American South with Etgar 36
CSR Teens’ Midnight Run in New York City to connect with the city’s unhoused population

Additional fees and registration are required to participate in some of these trips*. You may be required to complete additional permission forms and releases for trips.

*Finances should never be an obstacle to a teen’s involvement in CSR Teens. Financial aid is available for all trips. If you require subsidies, please contact Maya Parness at mparness@comsynrye.org.

Madrichim:
Teen Assistants in the Center for Jewish Learning

Do you want to mentor the next generation of CSR learners? Do you want an impressive experience on your college applications? Do you want community service hours or a paid position working in our Center for Jewish Learning?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then being a madrich(a), or teen teaching assistant, is for you! Madrichim will work in collaboration with educators to engage learners with activities and help with classroom management on Wednesdays from 4-6pm at CSR, and/or work one-on-one with learners in Hebrew on Saturdays from 8:45-10:45am on Zoom. Community service hours or a monthly stipend are available.

To become a madrich(a), teens can enroll in the Madrichim-in-Training elective in the Spring semester of 8th grade or older at Limud on Monday nights, with an “internship” component on Wednesday nights later in the Spring.

CoSY:
Teen Leadership Board

CoSY, short for “Community Synagogue of Rye Youth,” is our peer-led teen leadership board. The CoSY board organizes and leads an array of fun events for teens to socialize, develop leadership skills and build their Jewish identity, along with building leadership skills of their own and connecting with their fellow CoSY members. Recent CoSY events have included hosting the Purim Carnival, the CSR Teens Chanukah Carnival, pumpkin carving, and laser tag.

Registration for CSR Teens 2023-2024 is Open!

We are excited to invite you to register your teens for a year of connection with other Jewish teens and fun Jewish learning! Registration gets your teen access to a “CSR Teens Passport,” i.e. access to any combination of Limud (Monday night learning), Madrichim (Teen Assistants in the Center for Jewish Learning), and Tiyulim (Trips).

To register, log on to your Shulcloud account and click "Enroll to School" to register your teens for the upcoming school year.

Click on the drop-down box and choose "CSR Teens 2023-2024," fill in all information and click "submit."

Once your registration is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email that we have received your form(s).

The cost of a CSR Teens Passport is $430*. Please note that tuition is non-refundable and does not include trip fees.
