Women of CSR

Women of CSR is a vital part of Community Synagogue of Rye in that it provides a collective voice and presence of women in congregational life. Stronger together, we support the ideals and enhance the quality of Jewish living to ensure the future of progressive Judaism in North America, Israel and around the world. We are a dynamic multi-generational group of both married and single women working together for the good of the community.
    Membership dues and fundraising also provides the following:
  • Jewish camp scholarships/building projects
  • the Women’s Seder
  • Mishloach Manot (Purim bags), including a hamentashen baking lesson
  • Rosh Chodesh; flowers on the High Holy Days;
  • tea for Onegs and events
  • gifts for all b’nei mitzvah and Confirmands
  • Tikkun Olam opportunities such as back packs for Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry educational programs

Help Women of CSR be a moving force at Community Synagogue of Rye by becoming a member or renewing your membership.

Dues are $55 per year with an additional contribution of $15, which supports the various programs and projects, including the YES Fund. You may send your check payable to Sisterhood/Women of Reform Judaism to Community Synagogue of Rye, 200 Forest Avenue, Rye, NY 10580, attention Janet Meyers, Treasurer.

We look forward to your involvement and sharing in your enthusiasm.

Women of CSR at Work in the Community

On Sunday, April 12, 2018 the Rye Women’s Interfaith Committee sponsored its annual conference and reception at the Rye Presbyterian Church. The topic was “Honoring Religious Diversity During Life’s Journey.” Our very own Rabbi Leora Frankel and congregant Susan Rudolph participated on the panel. Women of CSR (on behalf of Community Synagogue of Rye), along with the other houses of worship in Rye, contribute every year so that the Interfaith Committee can offer stimulating and thought-provoking programs to the community.

Women of CSR would also like to thank Rabbi Leora Frankel and Cantor Melanie Cooperman for coordinating the Women’s Seder for our synagogue family and friends. More than 100 women and some of their daughters attended this year’s event. Also, WRJ/Sisterhood donated funds to the Backpack Mission for Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry in Rye in August. The funds help purchase 2050 backpacks, which were filled with school supplies for needy children in temporary housing or homeless shelters in the Westchester area.

Our financial support helps to provide programs within the synagogue, as well as working toward making a difference within our local communities. We look forward to future activities sponsored by Women of CSR.
