March 17 & 18, 2017: Liberating Your Passover Seder with Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Noam Zion

Join CSR for this unique opportunity to learn ways to make your Passover celebration both more meaningful and personal for your family. 


Friday at 9:30 am    
Noam Zion will lead an interactive session with parents and grandparents of young children called “Beginning New Passover Traditions in your Family that Grow with Time.” Participants will learn how to involve the whole family in an interactive, custom-made Seder. 

Friday at 6:30 pm    
Shabbat dinner with our Scholar-in-Residence. Dinner reservations ($20 per adult/$10 per child with a maximum per family of $50) may be made at HERE or by check, made payable to Community Synagogue of Rye. 

Friday at 7:45 pm    
Noam Zion will speak on ​​“Dispelling Misconceptions of the Passover Seder” at the Shabbat Service. 

​Saturday at 8:45 am           

A discussion for parents and grandparents of CJL students on the topic, “Beginning New Passover Traditions in your Family that Grow with Time.”

Saturday at 11:00 am     
Shabbat Brunch and Learn with our Scholar-in-Residence. Over a bagel brunch, Noam Zion will speak about a “Guide to the Perplexed Seder Leader.” All are welcome! 

Saturday at 3:00 pm     
​Motzei Shabbat teaching on “Art, Politics and Psychology of the 4 Daughters and 4 Sons” at a private home in Rye. Please RSVP for this event to Michelle Simon, at CSR (execassistant@comsynrye.org) and you will be notified of the location.





ABOUT THE SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE
A senior research fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute since 1978, Noam Zion is a graduate of Columbia University and the Hebrew University, The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and the Hartmen Beit Midrash. He is in the forefront of teaching Jewish educators and he is faculty member at numerous Jewish educational institutes in Israel and America. He has developed many curriculum development guides on Bible, holidays, and Rabbinic ethics. He also participates in research involving engaging Israeli educators. Mr. Zion's publications and worldwide lectures have focused on Homemade Judaism - empowering families to create their own pluralistic Judaism during the holidays - Pesaech, Chanukah, and Shabbat. His most popular publications include: A Different Night: The Family Participation Haggadah, A Different Light: The Big Book of Hanukkah, A Day Apart: Shabbat at Home, and Halaila Hazeh and A Night to Remember, haggadot thet he published together with his son.

Join Rabbi Leora Frankel, Cantor Melanie Cooperman and WRJ/Sisterhood for an inspiring and uplifting Women’s Seder! This inter-generational celebration is told in our own voices and is for women of all ages. 

The cost to participate is $50 per adult and $25 for young ladies ages 8-18. Please RSVP via and pay online by clicking here or send this form payment and check made out to "Community Synagogue of Rye" and "Womens Seder" in the memo to the synagogue office by Monday, March 27.
