LIfeLong Learning- Adult Education
In addition to Rabbi Gropper's teaching Anshe Binah (Adult B’nai Mitzvah), early morning Torah study, a weekly text class, and leading our weekly Shabbat Torah discussion study, our Continuing Education program includes lectures, discussions, classes on all aspects of Jewish education, and special programs with other synagogues. Annually the synagogue sponsors a Scholar-in-Residence weekend that is enjoyed by the entire membership. The direction of Jewish Adult Education is changing at Community Synagogue. Jewish education is about comprehending our history, but it is also about enriching our soul and challenging our mind through Judaism. How can we enhance our lives and make our relationships stronger? How do we find meaning in the events of the day and the world? How do we become active learners and meaningful participants in our lives? This takes “Life Long Learning.” And this is the promise of the 2006- 07 course offerings for adults. No matter what your level of understanding, you’re sure to feel alive in this year’s stimulating arena of thought, analysis, inspiration, and dynamic group dialogue.
Check out our LLL fall programming below. See what suits you. Attend any class, even if it is part of a series. You are bound to take away more than you came in with, no matter your background.
We are able to offer spiritual, original and intellectual speakers, thanks to the generosity of Community Synagogue and our sponsoring families, the Goodkinds, the Wolder and Millmans, and the Cecele Fraenkels. Mark your calendar to hear these exciting programs featuring Rabbi David Gordis, Cantor Ellen Dreskin, Dr. Joel Hoffman, and our own Rabbi Daniel Gropper and Cantor Jonathan Comisar.
