High Holy Day Worship/Programming

Family Worship

We will again offer a Family Worship experience during Rosh Hashanah on September 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Yom Kippur on September 16 from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., designed for families with children in grades 3-6. This engaging and musical service will be led by Rabbinic Intern Gabe Miner and Director of Youth Engagement, Leah Beck, with participation by Rabbi Daniel Gropper and Cantor Melanie Cooperman.

Yizkor Memory Book & Updated Memory Information

A digital Memorial Book will be available online prior to the Yizkor Memorial Service on Yom Kippur afternoon. Additional information pertaining to the Memory Book can be found here. If you have purchased a plaque, the name of the deceased will be automatically listed in the Memory Book. We will also offer a printed version upon request.

Second Day Rosh Hashanah

On Septemner 8, we will offer an outdoor “Different Kind of Service” from 10:00 am – 11:30 a.m. (weather permitting). Meet at the parking lot of Edith Read Natural Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in Rye. Please note: given the topography, this experience is not appropriate for those with mobility issues. Please carpool as parking is limited. Advance registration, masks and physical distancing are required. Space is limited.

Participation and HHD Guest Request Form

This year we will need to know your plans for each service in advance, to ensure adequate seating for all. Please respond with your choice of service as soon as possible, as the holy days are early this year and we want to accommodate your requests as best as we can. Seating at CSR will be available for member families, their parents and spouses/partners of adult children. We will offer livestreaming to those we are unable to accommodate in-person.

1.      Sign Up for In-person
  • There is an option on the in-person reservation form to select a socially distanced section. This is for those who are not vaccinated or not comfortable being in close proximity to others.
  • You can upload proof of vaccination if your preference is to remove your mask indoors.
  • We will do our best to honor your requested time for the morning services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. They are two identical services, each 90 minutes (at 9:00 am and 11:30 am).
  • Childcare and youth programming will only be offered during the 9:00 am services.
  • Family Worship services are at 4:00 pm on Rosh Hashanah and at 2:30 pm on Yom Kippur.

2.      Name Badge request for in-person services
  • Everyone 12 and over will require a name badge to attend any of the in-person services.
  • Seating at CSR will be available for member families, their parents and spouses/partners of their adult children. Other guests will be considered on a space available basis. We will offer livestreaming to those we are unable to accommodate in person.
  • Name badge requests must be received by August 15, 2021.

NOTE: Name Badges will be mailed once all past commitments, half of your 2021-2022 annual commitment and all religious school fees have been paid and/or a payment plan has been set up with the synagogue. Please submit annual payments by August 15, 2021 in order to receive your name badges in advance of Rosh Hashanah. Please know that finances should not be a barrier to your affiliating with CSR. If you have questions, contact Glynis Conyer, Executive Director, at (914) 967-6262 x222 or gconyer@comsynrye.org.

3.      Livestreaming
  • Please complete this form if you intend to connect to any of the High Holy Day services via livestreaming.

Security
For security reasons, all those attending High Holy Day services will be asked to show their name badges, so it is essential to bring them with you to each service. Every individual should wear their own name badge. If you do not have your name badge, you may be asked to present identification. If you are carrying a large package, bag, or diaper bag, it may be subject to a search.

There will be security officers to assist with security at CSR. These security procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all who worship with us during the Days of Awe.
